Pilikuththuwa Raja Maha Viharaya
King Devanampiyatissa is said to be the first King to have visited and constructed Pilikuttuwa, some 2300 ago. King Valagamba during his period of reign renovated and maintained this temple 1100 years ago.
In an area of around 200 acres, which consists of 1 of the 2% natural forest reserve found in the Gampaha district, together with 99 caves comprises this ancient temple. A dolawa or palanquin belonging to the Venerable Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala, used in 1890 is also found here as is a picturesque dagoba situated within a cave.
